Mark Joseph is an award-winning music and film producer, author, columnist, commentator and founder of MJM Entertainment Group.
Mark got his start in the entertainment industry as a teenager, writing a column on music at the age of 13 and worked consistently throughout his teens in television commercials and as a radio disc jockey.
Mark’s career in television began in 1992 when he anchored the Entertainment Report for Group W and CNN and he spent the next decade hosting the TV show, The Interview, which featured one on one interviews with guests like Larry King, Charlton Heston, Jay Leno and dozens of others for Japan’s flagship NHK Television Network.
From 2000-2005, he worked in development and marketing as special assistant to the Presidents of Walden Media and Crusader Entertainment, both part of the Anschutz Entertainment Group.
Mark has worked in the development and/or marketing of 53 films including Ray, Holes, I Am David, The Chronicles of Narnia, Because of Winn-Dixie, The Passion of The Christ, Little Boy, Son of God and others.
In 2004, he co-produced two short films, Cupid and The Bridge with producer Ralph Winter and in 2010 produced the film Doonby. He has served as a producer on films such as The Vessel starring Martin Sheen, Max Rose featuring Jerry Lewis, Frank vs. God, America, The Unknowns, Silence Patton and Japan: Searching For The Dream. He is currently producing the films Tolkien & Lewis, Absolute Surrender, No Safe Spaces and Reagan. He was co-founder and currently servers as president of the Damah Film Festival.
Through his MJM label, Mark released 100 albums by American artists into the Japanese market since 190 and in 2008 Mark launched Bully! Pulpit Records, a joint venture label with Nettwerk Music Group, releasing Molly Jenson’s debut album, Maybe Tomorrow, worldwide in 2009. In 2004 he produced the award-winning rock soundtrack for The Passion of The Christ featuring Lauryn Hill, P.O.D., Creed, MxPx, Blink 182, Kirk Franklin and others, produced the B.J. Thomas song Walk On for his film Doonby and in 2014 produced Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine’s version of The Star Spangled Banner for the film America.
Mark is the author of several books including The Rock & Roll Rebellion, Faith, God & Rock ‘n’ Roll & The Lion, The Professor & The Movies and in 2009 formed a partnership with Midpoint Trade Books to release titles from his imprint Bully! Pulpit Books. His most recent book Rock Gets Religion: The Battle For The Soul of The Devil’s Music was released in 2018.
He is a regular contributor to USA Today, Foxnews.com, Forbes and Investor’s Business Daily and wrote for The Huffington Post for 13 years. He’s written widely on politics and pop culture for a variety of publications including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, The Wrap, Christianity Today, The Jewish Press, Billboard and others. Mark lives in the Los Angeles area with his family.
Mark Joseph is an award-winning music producer who has worked with many of today’s top recording artists including Lauryn Hill, P.O.D., Sixpence None The Richer, Scott Stapp of Creed, MxPx, Dr. John, ZZ Top, Mark Hoppus of Blink 182, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Andrae Crouch, and many others.
He is the founder of Bully! Pulpit Records a joint venture label with Nettwerk Music Group whose first album by recording artist Molly Jenson was released in 2009.
Joseph began work in the studio while still in college as coordinating producer on the first of two dozen albums by various pop and rock artists. Later he began producing jingles for corporate clients like Ford, Nissan, Honda, Canon and a variety of others.
Joseph supervised the international distribution of over 100 records into the Japanese market by artists including Chevelle, Sixpence None The Richer, Mozart, Jon Gibson and others.
In 2003, Joseph was tapped by director Mel Gibson to produce the rock soundtrack for the groundbreaking film, The Passion Of The Christ. Joseph assembled an all-star group of artists to watch the film and write a song in response to what they had seen. The result was The Passion Of The Christ: Songs, a unique album featuring the top rock, pop, R&B, and country artists in the nation. In 2005, he received a GMA Music Award for his work as producer. In 2014 Joseph produced Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine’s rendition of The Star Spangled Banner for the film America.

Mark worked for Walden Media from 2001-2005, playing a key role in the development and/or marketing of a dozen films including The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, Ray, Holes, Amazing Grace, I Am David, Joshua, Because of Winn Dixie and others.

Mr. Joseph is a regularly featured columnist contributing to a variety of publications on topics ranging from media to culture to politics to spirituality and international issues.
In 1999 Mr. Joseph released his first book, the groundbreaking The Rock & Roll Rebellion. In 2003, he released a follow-up, Faith, God & Rock ‘n’ Roll which further chronicled the cultural impact of dozens of religious recording artists entering the music business.
In 2005 he launched Bully! Pulpit Books as general editor and released Pop Goes Religion, by Scripps-Howard News Service reporter Terry Mattingly. In 2018 the imprint released Bob Dylan: A Spiritual Life by author Scott Marshall
In 2009 Mr. Joseph signed a multi-book joint venture partnership between Bully! Pulpit and Midpoint Trade for national distribution, releasing books including The Lion, The Professor & The Movies: Narnia’s Journey To The Big Screen.
His most recent book, the third and final in a trilogy that chroniclred the intersection of rock and religion, Rock Gets Religion: The Battle For The Soul of The Devil’s Music was released in 2018.

Mr. Joseph has worked steadily as a TV Talk show host and correspondent for a variety of media outlets. In 1992 when the co-host of the Group W broadcast, The Wow Wow Entertainment Report, decided to take a sabbatical to star in a film, Joseph was chosen to fill in for the anchor on a temporary basis. What was to have been a two month engagement turned into a full-time position when the network decided not to renew the original anchor’s contract and instead appointed Joseph as co-anchor of the broadcast. Soon afterward, the program was acquired by CNN and Joseph continued to anchor the program for CNN.
In 1994 Joseph turned his attention to creating a pilot for a culturally relevant political/pop culture talk show for CNN called Culture Clash which he hosted and produced for the network.
Later that year Joseph began producing and hosting a 20-minute long talk show for Japan’s NHK TV called The Interview. Featuring one on one interviews with American cultural icons like Larry King, Jay Leno, Charlton Heston and others with Joseph’s insightful questions provided a window into American society for millions of Asian viewers. After three successful seasons, the show moved to a different time slot and was re-christened LA Frontline.
Most recently, Joseph produced and hosted an online talk show, The Bully! Pulpit Show for Safeworlds TV.
